Safety is Paramount
The health and wellbeing of Youth Radio Rocks participants is our utmost priority. This is why we have robust Health and Safety policies in place as well as a number of other policies that, although not required, we feel are important. Ian the station head honcho bases this all on one question. “Would I be happy having a member of my family taking part in activities run by such a social entity?” The answer is yes.
As well as receiving top level First Aid training in the Army, Ian your mentor is First Aid Trained by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. He has attended two Paediatric First Aid courses and there is a First Aid Kit on site. The nearest defibrillator is four hundred metres away.
In our studios we have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Fire fighting and escape equipment, plus 24/7 CCTV with audio recording. CRB / DBS checks are in place and photos are only used with participants consent. It gives everyone peace of mind.
Youth Radio Rocks believes that children and young people have the right to protection from abuse and neglect and that the well being of children must be the paramount consideration when providing services. Youth Radio Rocks is committed to ensuring that all staff who work with children and young people, including voluntary workers, are able to provide a safe environment where children/young people are safe at all times.
Like everyone we take privacy very seriously and even have padlocks on our trouser pockets. Seriously we have a stringent policy that protects you from any spam, tracking and underhand behaviour.
Youth Radio Rocks recognises that it is essential to provide equal opportunities to all persons without discrimination. This policy sets out the organisation’s position on equal opportunity in all aspects of employment, including recruitment and promotion, giving guidance and encouragement to employees at all levels to act fairly and prevent discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, marital status, part-time and fixed term contract status, age, sexual orientation or religion.
Sadly in the ‘not so small print’ as legal people have to justify their earnings, Youth Radio Rocks have a ream of terms and conditions. Its all good though as it protects everyone just as it should.
Not so much health and safety but its good to know this is not a fly by night operation. Youth Radio Rocks is a Private Company limited by guarantee. It has specific not for profit objects and goals in its articles of association. Our company number is 11896529.
Phew, that was exciting…
